Lowe's employee from SC dies after being hit in the head by garage

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - A South Carolina man was killed in an accident at a home improvement store in south Charlotte Sunday morning.

The incident occurred around 10:30 a.m. at the Lowe's home improvement store located at 217 Iverson Way located off South Boulevard in the city's South End area.

The accident happened in the warehouse area adjacent to the store where customers are not allowed.

According to the police report, the victim is 35-year-old Richard Thomas Yoost of 2202 Crosstail Ridge, Rock Hill, SC.

The police report says Yoost was underneath the garage door when it fell down and struck him in the head.

Yoost was transported to Carolinas Medical Center where he died at 10:53 a.m.

A spokesperson for Lowe's Home Improvement said their thoughts and prayers were with the employee's family as well as the associates at the store.

WBTV.com spoke with Lowe's spokeswoman Karen Cobb Monday morning. She would not answer any of our questions about the accident.
